It is an amazing thing, this new “scientific” look at our universe. New space based telescopes that can look far out into the universe and, some say, back in time. Hey, they say they’ve found planets that support life like ours! Is it time to apply the brakes a little?
Decades ago, when I was young, we had none of this tech but one thing we did have was curiosity and it is that curiosity that, with advances in technology, has allowed us to reveal all of this new information concerning this vast place in which we live; “out there!” I call this the “Shatner” paradox and, speaking of “Star Trek,” is it possible that so many fantastic claims are pure bunk? Well, these wonderful folks decided to use this to tell us the bible is phony and could not have been correct in much of what is written inside that ancient book. I often wonder if any of these people ever studied that book because what is written in that book tells us, not about what is in the universe, but what we need to know here on Earth. The Bible is therefore, Earth, therefore, human being centric so now that we know the universe doesn’t rotate around the Earth as the early church told us we feel that the bible should just keep its mouth shut and let mankind do the figuring as concerns what is or is not out there.
The bible merely tells us, in Genesis, how God created all of this in what the Bible simple tells us was a void. An empty space with nada going on. This separates the universe from Heaven and vice versa. Oh, we call the sky the heaven’s but where God exists is no part of this universe. He left out exactly the mathematical parameters we would need to find Heaven didn’t He?
The bible is about us, mankind. It tells us how we should live and how we should comport ourselves to further our timeline out into eternity. It says nothing about life elsewhere in this universe because it is about us, not them out there.
I just thought it was time to set the universe straight. Take this or leave this little article, eternity is up to you and ther is only one way to get there which is why we have the Bible to read, study and, most importantly, obey as that book is God’s word for us. You, me, that guy down the street and that group in Russia and China to. God never said the bible was universal. In fact, He made no mention of life anywhere but right here. Science? Far from it as God is not Earthbound!
