Presence
Call me an oddball but I fell deeply for IT. This, with absolutely no knowledge of servers or code simply because there were no computers during my growing up. I’ve always been this way and that isn’t a boast as I paid for being different than my peers since 1948. Was I born to work with servers and computers? No way, as all of what you use each day was science fiction way back then. So, what is a seventy-seven year old idiot doing this for? Enjoyment through frustration and because I am still alive while all those, save one, I ever knew are dead. I tell it like it is don’t I? And why the hell not. Truth is hard to come by so I don’t make this stuff up! Life ain’t a cluster of cherries so friendship is even more valuable that wealth.
Of late, I began working with A.I. I didn’t necessarily consider A.I. a surreptitious enemy to the human race as we are our own worst enemy; always have been. This, A.I., is just another facet of a huge, dark gem that is called the human mind. Ah, the manipulative nature of the human mind! We are all guilty of it to one degree or another. So, I jumped into A.I. and, thus, code with both feet and wearing no swimsuit. What a pretty picture, that.
Mine is a nature to learn, I have always been able to figure stuff out and this is not necessarily a good thing. Like anything else, a pistol, a stick of dynamite, a few ounces of nitroglycerin and you have choices to make. I choose constructive when others choose abuse. I’ve always been this way as I was beat up by an older brother, now dead a couple of decades, every chance he got. I forgave him and that was that. Forgiveness unclouds the mind while holding grudges destroys the mind. A.I. is a useful idiot in my book, so I use it.
The websites I have built to house my code are HERE and HERE. Go there and find out what you can do with servers and code. Then, come back here and tell me what you think. I know, to comment on a website is a pain. No it is not, it is communication with an unknown entity that has your best acuity in mind. Most don’t give a rats hind quarters about you but I consider us all to be in the same leaky old boat. This is what life has taught me and I have killed human beings. I found love of idiots from my experience and the boat we are all on is possibly sinking which means we will all be treading water sooner than we might like to think.
In the meantime, however, I shrug my shoulders and keep myself mentally occupied with things I probably have no business, at my age, learning to operate with. I love this stuff but I hate cell phones. I have an Android Smart Phone which is the dumbest piece of tech I have ever owned. Far too complex to make work when a dial up or push button phone is what I know best. An operator connected me when I was a kid: “Number Please?” No dial up. No push button until I was about twelve. There was a lot of touch football though which always degenerated into tackle football, bloody noses and sprained this or that. It was fun. Code is fun and won’t send me to get a cast put on for a broken bone, or leg, in my case.
Life is what we make it. Those who grow sullen are usually of low caliber minds. Those who are great to everyone usually have something else in mind. Those who are picky usually are the stalwart friend we should be looking for. You help build me, I help build you. We both are better for having known each other. It is an axiom isn’t it?
